FRS Transportation has a current fleet of nineteen vehicles that consists of seven standard minivans, three 12-passenger vans, eight wheelchair accessible vehicles and one all-terrain vehicle. All vahicles are equipped with seatbelts, fire extinguishers and standard safety equipment. Our wheelchair accessible vehicles accommodate most all commonly utilized wheelchair models.

WHEELCHAIR TRAINING
Prior to transporting any wheelchair passengers all drivers must complete the following:
  • 8 hour class on transporting passengers in wheelchairs and with various physical disabilities
  • 4 hours hands-on training in proper wheelchair securement procedures along with wheelchair passenger securement
    • proper lift operation and ramp procedure. Trainee must properly operate lift and ramp while loading wheelchair client into vehicle
    • trainee must properly secure wheelchair inside of vehicle and secure wheelchair client
    • trainee must properly navigate wheelchair accessible vehicle to assigned destination
    • trainee will learn how to assist wheelchair passenger
  • Refresher training on wheelchair securement every three months for drivers who do not regularly drive a wheelchair accessible vehicle
